  • by

Every morning when the sun rises over the horizon and the rooster jumps out of its nest singing a Cock-A-Doodle-Doo, the world sees two kinds of people.
Those who are wrapped up in their beds and those who wake up to go for a run.  If you happen to belong to the latter, then congratulations! There is awesome news for you.

You are going to live longer, and fall ill much lesser.

Tough to believe? Well, these words aren’t coming from my mouth. In a study published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology, researchers had conducted a diligent and detailed review of 15 years of data from over 50,000 adults aged between 18 and 100.

Their findings were mind boggling.

Regular runners had 45% less chances of dying from heart disease. Also, they were 30% less likely to die from anything. It was also discovered that running 51 minutes a week, or around 10 minutes a day, would increase one’s lifespan by over 3 years. Unbelievably amazing, isn’t it!

Running is one exercise which suits all irrespective of their ages or habits. Which means that whether you are an alcoholic or a smoker, a vegan or a non-vegetarian, running is good for you. It was also found that those who run just for a few minutes a day were as healthy and robust as the ones who ran for a longer duration.

Instead of a cup of coffee or a pint of alcohol, running is a much healthier and effective way of curing depression. Running releases endorphins in the body, which elevate your mood.

2. Slows Down Ageing:

No one wants to age. We all want to stay youthful even as our days pass by. And running can help us achieve that. Running has a lot many health benefits which can actually delay the process of ageing.

3. Great For Your Heart And Lungs:

The ventricles in the heart which pump blood expand by 20% when we run. This results in an increased supply of blood to all parts of the body. Running also makes us breathe heavier, which is a very good exercise to the lungs.
